notlikethesoup Great mix of '90s and modern alternative rock sounds layered with some almost Zappa-esque arrangements and riffs reminiscent of Queens of the Stone Age. Anyone who likes good modern rock should find plenty to like and think about here Favorite track: Good For You.

I come with a warning A message from the future Listen, we cannot linger We're absent from present danger A front for the half done Abandoned for a while Come on, you're fooling no one There's no place left to hide We've all felt this before (Rush until you die) There's writing on the wall (What's my fortune say) Forget about the now I'm only anxious for the end Corrupt all the children Demand all their lives Go on, you're fooling no one There's no place left to hide That cage built an empire It's lust ratified So courage, you rushing phantoms There's phrases and words defy We've all felt this before (Rush until you die) There's writing on the wall (What's our story say) Forget about the now I'm only anxious for the end

Solitude 03:01
I wanna be a famous rockstar, baby Would you please sell me out I'm on a list, going to audition So listen close and say aloud; Aw, yeah I want it But how will he find it? Nothing's going well Leave me alone I'd rather be in solitude Left under a stone Don't let the spotlight in my room Get back Ah, yeah I want it Ooh, oh I need it Ah, now I saw it Ooh, do I feel it Saddle up, come in hot and heavy Plant a flag and call the route Rescind the offer, make-up ready I'm alt-tabbed til' I figure how Watch out I don't know what to play But here I go off anyway What does it mean What should I say Wait, hold up here, let's celebrate With this award I'd like to thank The members of the academy For giving me my lucky break This one's for them, it's not for me Leave me alone I'd rather be in solitude Left under a stone Your very presence ruins my mood Just leave me alone I'd rather be in solitude I'm ignorancy prone Don't get too close You've been eschewed Attack

How Can I 04:34
How can I make Something that's half as great Usher forth a righteous meaning As will allows This part's the one I hate It's the one I can't create Someday it'll come out front I'll bleed it out There it goes It's in that direction Like a rose A symbol of perfection But how can I? (Relay this) How can I? How can I? (make something that's half as great) Oh uh oh It's hard to bear the taste Of the memories I've replaced Cut forth, the wheat and chaff Remainders old There it goes It's in that direction (Hmmm) Like a rose A symbol of perfection This work will dissipate A memoir of my hopeless fate A collection of my life Written in prose I suppose there's no debate I'd sooner rather it be late Holy remnants held alight As fate unfolds Aspire to realign The cogs and wheels within my mind And to revel in these thoughts Shown after goad I plea to prove the worth of Valid statements I've unearthed But how can I? (oh uh oh) How can I? How can I? The rage The fire The underneath desire To trust That dream A sycophantic theme Oh, to hate The call The murder of it all We travel back and forth To adapt or to evolve Another wasted breath And our future's put on stall But we're here and in the now Taking final curtain calls Singing I can't die I can't die I don't wanna sleep My heart's still beatin' But it's losing its time Let's all join hands Let's put up a fight That our only meaning Is "I will survive" And to this effort scream How can I? Breathe for the first time And see with my own eyes How can I? (oh uh oh)

Think First 03:22
Well that's okay I don't feel stuff anyway No, that's alright I was better off in a way Oh come on What did you say Now hold on Sure, that's just fine It's picking up but do we have to wait Yeah, you heard right No I won't take it back, you fake Best friends? What do you say? It won't send Mark my words there, boy Do as I say not as I do Keep an open mind I try to behave But you won't even Think first Measure every breath Demons Locked inside your chest Meanings Pent up in your breast Think first Or it'll be your very death Let it out Wow, you look nice I can't wait to get inside Let's start off right Better luck next time Think next time You don't ever wanna lose your patience ...next time (Mark my words there boy...) Think first Measure every breath Keep it Locked inside your chest Secrets A perjure in your vest Think first Don't speak without consent Why?

Here Before 05:34
I'll get over it x 3 I've been here before this time With love letters in mind Treat it like another day Make them go away Did you feel it when your life Flashed before your eyes Cus if I were to have my way This all would dissipate I've been here before Been here before today Time keeps passing me by But I'm never sure which way I've been thinking all my life About the other side Shadows of another claim I'm not sure I could stake Did you freely choose this right How did you decide? Cus if I were to have my way I'd find what I could break I've been here before Been here before today Time keeps passing me by But I'm never sure which way Do you remember All of this waste? Light the bright ember And burn it away I've been here before Been here before today Life has passed me by But I'm never sure which way Do you remember All of this waste Light that bright ember And burn it Burn it Burn it away

Relative 01:56
Sing me a lullaby One that muses over Right and wrong Tear drops in candid eyes Waiting to rain Over your shoulder I know that all will be okay For now... Wake me up If I act up Insisting that I would dedicate The world to you Relative Wake me up If I get stuck
7.
Undefined 06:23
Languid, spirit from the dead Raven, revenant searching black Broadcasting horror Lo, it sows men down Jealous of what we know But I'd heard it done before Hangman, reeling for my head Sandstone, placed beside my bed Do you hear them sing The mockingbirds on mountaintops High above the city blocks Deadlight christening It's undefined Member when the beach was young? Sand and starlight so belonged (Do you hear them sing?) x2 Come back to me my love Send back the sea hollow Do you hear them sing The mockingbirds on mountaintops Born above these city blocks Thorns and angel wings It's undefined Brought horror low, that sows men down Jealous of what we know I'd heard done before Layman, spirit of the damned Rainman, once more again Do you hear them sing this song This tune; It's called "The rains will fall again" And in the summer of your days Where does it go And where does it end
8.
Good For You 05:46
Yes, I know you're on it You're hard at work I can see the wrinkles On your pristine shirt I'd like to know your secret Doesn't quite add up Different techniques produce Different results Damn, I can't believe it I'm so impressed Why am I here If you're the fucking best Can you tell me plainly What I've done wrong Honestly I'd rather be off having fun Good for you I'd like to know your secret even though it's too See through Well is there something else? Don't you Put me on the line for your steady abuse It won't do Oh it's true Me and you Getting through Ha ha ha Is it worth repeating What I have done? Good god I know there's something Getting ready to run Arm the simulated you sit and post Whispering this energy On their own Would you lie to Come back slow Just listen close Pass the time Simple talk And pure creation You did that just Out of spite Would you lie to Come back slow Listen close And pass the time Simple talk And pure creation We were wrong and You were right But it's good for you x4 Wait what's my line? Oh that's good for you x3 Who's that good for? You

Above, Below 04:47
Out, beyond the moon Starstruck insights Beacons relating from Shout, scream for your life In atmosphere We defy the rise of smoke into the sky Down, under a wave Drew maiden breath Evolutionary Touch, reach out tonight Make statement by The way you move along I am significant Screamed the dust speck And I am magnificent Ego in check Intelligent beams of light Subconscious streams of night What we come from Where we're going Above, below Stretch, pierce through the sky Soaring above Skyborne candlelight Brush soft skinned veil We'll endure the nigh Til our names are dust and we return to light I am significant Screamed the dust speck High and magnificent Ego in check Intelligent beams of light Subconscious streams of night What we come from Where we're going Above, below Never forget where we came from Where we're going It's hard to believe all the lifetimes We've shared No one conceives of the future But if I close my eyes is the world still there?
10.
Tag-Along 04:48
Let's be pretentious together We're young So everyone says Can't stand the sight of each other How fun Said no one ever Caretaker generation One foot underground Why even bother Premature celebration With none to find out What we discover The gentle method of it all It's swallowing your crown I'll follow you around Can you please help me out There's no sense waiting here I've been thinking I'll follow you for now Let's not lose sight of each other Hold on Refuse to scatter Handing down leftover pressure So long It doesn't matter Digital little creations Their eyes looking down Ignoring mother Wiped out by hesitation Now no one's around Will we recover Our happy ever after all, It's buried underground I'll follow you around When will we leave this town You know, since waiting here I've been wasting But I'll follow you for now And I followed you around Damn, I'm really missing out There's no remaining here Yet I keep singing I'll follow you around Keep me with this ghostly vow There's no sense staying here No remaining here You'll be fine...

He introduced himself In a classroom miles away Commented what I'd drawn I just didn't know what to say First time we raced along On a track and field midday He challenged me to fall But instead it came to be Faster than anyone With laughter and energy It captured the essence of Something real Moving on to better things I'd rather it just stayed the same Sending off our separate ways Moving on to other things We talked the night away About nothing much at all Weekends and holidays It was perfect for awhile We thought we'd live forever Or at least until the end But promises fade by letter I'll never be fooled again Faster than anything With sorrow and empathy It's missing the essence of Something real Moving on to better things I'd rather it just stayed the same Sending off our separate ways Goodbye to my best friend End

about

The debut album for The Ghostwriter. An amalgamation of hard rock and esoteric tunes specifically made for head-banging, pulse-pounding, nostalgia-driven action.

This album took over 2 years and hundreds of hours of cumulative work to complete. It is not perfect. I offer it to you in good faith so that those without the means may still give this music a home. Feel free to stream and listen as many times as you'd like.

Play it really loud.
